During my trip to Porto, I couldn't resist trying two of Portugal's famous drinks: green wine (Vinho Verde) and sangria. The local restaurant I visited served sangria loaded with fresh fruit chunks — honestly, it was the best sangria I've tasted so far! The vibrant color and refreshing flavor perfectly complemented the sunny day.

The Portuguese Feast
For our meal, we ordered several Portuguese specialties:
- Special Lasagna: A Portuguese take on the Italian classic
- Cream Bacalhau: Creamy codfish, a staple in Portuguese
cuisine
- Francesinha: The legendary Porto sandwich I'd been dying to try
The star of the show was definitely the Francesinha. If you haven't heard of this Porto specialty, it's a Portuguese sandwich that's essentially a calorie bomb in the best possible way. Picture this: layers of different meats sandwiched between slices of bread, topped with melted cheese, and drenched in a special sauce that's slightly spicy and full of flavor.

Before trying it, I was warned about how rich it would be, but surprisingly, it wasn't as heavy as I expected. The combination of flavors balanced nicely, and it reminded me of a more complex, indulgent burger that's actually easier to eat than you might think!
The Perfect Portuguese Afternoon
Every dish we tried was delicious, and the restaurant had such an authentic local atmosphere. With the beautiful weather and charming surroundings, it made for a perfect dining experience.
Being the lightweight drinker that I am, I found myself sipping the sangria a bit too enthusiastically and enjoying the refreshingly crisp Vinho Verde more than I planned. Both drinks went down easily, and before I knew it, I was feeling pleasantly tipsy in the afternoon sun.

Word to the wise: Be careful with daytime drinking in Porto — those delicious Portuguese drinks are deceptively potent!
The combination of amazing food, local drinks, and Porto's undeniable charm made this one of the most memorable meals of my trip. If you find yourself in Porto, seeking out a traditional Francesinha experience should be high on your list!
